“Sometimes you need more than print-on-demand. I did a special, full-color, signed, numbered hardcover of a short book I had written with Neil Peart (RUSH). We had a large fan base and a lot of interest, so we decided to do a run of 800 copies…every one of which sold out. Because this is a special project to me, I wanted someone professional who did quality work. Dave Sheets at BelieversBookServices produced an excellent, beautiful product, and I know the fans are as happy as I was.”

When I started to take indie-publishing seriously back in 2018, I realized that for as easy as it was to publish a book, publishing it the “right way” proved much harder.
I also realized that, as with many things in life, the path to success is not only based on what you know but also on who you know. Dave Sheets and BelieversBookServices (BBS) have since proven to be crucial allies who’ve walked alongside me on that path.
Earlier in 2020, I published my fourth fantasy novel in a series. I’d been doing a lot of local comic conventions and other live events, and with four fantasy books (plus a handful of other books I’ve written), I knew I would need a decent amount of inventory to be able to keep up with readers’ demands.
I’ve ordered books from a variety of printers, but it had never been enough copies to justify working with BBS. That order, though, of 600 books, was the moment I knew I have to go with BBS. Not only did the books cost less than the other printers I had been using but they also arrived in time (despite short notice on my part) and were of better quality. On top of that, Dave provided excellent customer service the whole time. Since then, I’ve nearly sold out of the first book in the series, Blood Mercenaries Origins: And when I do get close to running out, I know exactly whom I’ll be ordering from: BelieversBookServices.
If you need books printed–especially a LOT of books–check out BelieversBookServices today. You won’t regret it.”
YOUR AUDIENCE IS OUT THERE.
WE CAN HELP YOU REACH THEM.
Printing
BelieversBookServices specializes in printing services for most book projects. The difference is that we give authors the best possible prices, direct from the printing companies we partner with.
Our low print prices set authors up for the best retail prices, and optimum sales.
PRINTING FOR INDEPENDENT AUTHORS
Like many industries, the print world is filled with terminology that can be difficult to understand. To compound the issue, some of the same terms are used to define different things.
- Print-on-Demand (POD): a book is printed as needed for any purpose
- Print-to-Order (PTO): a book is printed to fill a specific order, whether for retail sales, or direct-to-consumer fulfillment
- Short run printing (digital printing): a few books up to a few hundred books are printed to supply a small inventory or orders
- Long run printing (offset printing): larger print runts (generally longer than 750 units) which fill a larger inventory or orders
Important! BelieversBookServices provides authors with some of the best print prices in the industry so that you can sell your books with competitive retail prices, rather than using high print costs and complicated formulas to determine what your readers will pay.
Print-on-Demand & Print-to-Order
With this service, a book is printed to fill a specific order, whether for retail sales through a bookseller like Barnes & Noble, or direct-to-consumer fulfillment from an order placed on your website.
Short Run Printing
A few books up to a few hundred books are printed to supply a small inventory or orders of multiple copies.
Long Run Printing
Printing has evolved from traditional printing (offset presses) for all book printing, to shorter and short runs (digital presses), to a true print-on-demand printing. Long run print runs today, generally happen with orders of 750 books or more.
WE GO DIRECT TO THE PRINTING SOURCE
BelieversBookServices maintains strategic alliances with a group of professional book printers to secure the best possible print prices for you.
PRINT FAQs
IS PRINT2ORDERPRESS A PUBLISHER?
No. We are a printer and work with a network of printers working to provide revolutionary services for publishers. Publishers have ownership over content, pay royalties, and are responsible for marketing and selling content (books, e-books, etc.) to retailers and consumers.
WILL PRINT2ORDERPRESS MARKET AND SELL MY BOOKS?
No. We do not market nor sell your books. Authors and publishers are responsible for marketing and sales. The marketing and sales process can be a rewarding experience and no one can market their book better than the author/publisher.
WHAT IS THE PERFECT PRINT RUN AT PRINT2ORDERPRESS?
We specialize in print runs of 50 or more copies. We can print as many units as is required.
ARE THERE ANY HIDDEN FEES?
No. You pay for printing and shipping/handling. That’s it.
ARE THERE SET-UP OR CHANGE CHARGES?
Normally there is not a setup fee. However, once a file goes through pre-press, change fees will be applied to process new or corrected files.
HOW MUCH ROYALTY DO YOU KEEP?
None. We are printers and do not own any rights to any publisher content…therefore there is not a royalty to pay.
WILL YOU OWN MY BOOK RIGHTS?
No. We are simply printers and service providers. The publisher always maintains full rights and control over their content and book files.
CAN YOU CONVERT MY FILES TO E-BOOKS?
Yes! Contact us for more information.
DO I NEED TO SIGN A CONTRACT WITH PRINT2ORDERPRESS?
No. Publishers are free to print as little or as many books as they like and are free to print with other printers.
HOW LONG DO SHIPMENTS TAKE?
We offer customers shipping options through UPS Ground or FedEx Ground (sometimes the USPS) for short runs. Long runs are generally sent through LTL trucking companies. Generally, shipping in the US takes 2-4 business days.
DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS?
Yes. Each print run is based on prevailing costs at the time, but the unit costs generally go down with higher order quantities.
WHAT ARE THE PAYMENT TERMS?
All orders are prepaid.
WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?
Unless the book has a manufacturing defect, we do not take returns or replace books.
ISN'T EVERYTHING MOVING TO EBOOKS?
No. Popular books offer eBook editions alongside traditional print editions. In some cases, books are releasing in an eBook edition only, or prior to releasing in a bound edition.
DO I NEED AN ISBN NUMBER?
Publishers only need an ISBN number if they are planning on selling a book at retail. This includes Amazon.com and other online retailers. If a publisher or author is only publishing a book for family, friends, conferences or direct-to-consumer distribution purposes, the book does not specifically need an ISBN.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF AN ISBN?
The purpose of the ISBN is to establish and identify one title or edition of a title from one specific publisher and is unique to that edition, allowing for more efficient marketing of products by booksellers, libraries, universities, wholesalers and distributors.
WHO CAN ASSIGN ISBNS TO A PUBLISHER?
There are over 160 ISBN Agencies worldwide, and each ISBN Agency is appointed as the exclusive agent responsible for assigning ISBNs to publishers residing in their country or geographic territory.
The United States ISBN Agency is the only source authorized to assign ISBNs to publishers supplying an address in the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam and Puerto Rico and its database establishes the publisher of record associated with each prefix. Find more information at www.bowker.com
WHAT DO I DO WHEN I RECEIVE THE ISBN AND WHERE SHOULD IT BE LOCATED?
An ISBN should be assigned to each title or product, including any back list or forthcoming titles. Each format or binding should have a separate ISBN (i.e. hardcover, paperbound, VHS video, laserdisc, eBook format, etc.). A new ISBN is also normally required for a revised edition. Once assigned, an ISBN can never be reused. An ISBN is printed on the lower portion of the back cover of a book above the bar code and on the copyright page.
CAN I SHIP INTERNATIONALLY?
Not at this time. International shipments will need a forwarder in the US.
WHAT IS THE AVERAGE TURNAROUND TIME FOR PRINTING?
From complete, press-ready files, we can print books in as few as 4-5 business days with slightly higher RUSH costs. With normal short runs (less than 500 copies), print times are normally 3-4 weeks for softcover and 5-6 weeks for hardcover. With normal long runs (more than 500 copies), print times are normally 4-5 weeks for softcover and 7-8 weeks for hardcover.
Please note: COVID protocols and supply chain challenges can affect these timeframes. None of these timeframes include time for shipping.
WHAT ARE THE TRIM SIZES THAT BOOKPRINTONDEMAND OFFERS?
Generally, we can print most trim sizes between 4×6 and 8.5×11. Larger format books may be available after consultation. Please consult with your Print2OrderPress specialist to find the right option for you.
WHAT PAPER IS USED BY BOOKPRINTONDEMAND?
We offer a variety of paper options from white, natural, gloss, matte, and uncoated. These also come in a variety of weights/thicknesses. Please consult with your Print2OrderPress specialist to find the right option for you.
DO YOU PRINT PHOTOS AND GRAYSCALE ILLUSTRATIONS?
Yes, we print excellent B&W photos and grayscale illustrations within the text of a book.
DO YOU PRINT BOOKS WITH FOUR-COLOR INTERIORS?
Yes! We print four-color books.
DO YOU DO HARDCOVER/CASE BOUND BOOKS?
Yes! We print hardcover books.
WHAT IS "BLEED"?
Bleed is a printing term referring to printing that goes beyond the edge of the sheet after trimming. Bleed ensures that the color on the cover goes all the way to the edge and no “white appears at the edge.” In our case, the recommended bleed is 1/4th of an inch on each side.
When designing a cover for our system, the bleed should be designed into the cover size. For a book that is 6 inches wide, the cover will be 12.5 inches + the spine width (6″ for the front; 6″ for the back; plus 1/4 inch for front and back bleeds).
HOW DO I GET MY "OUT-OF-PRINT BOOKS" PRINTED?
If there is not a digital file available, a publisher can pay to have the book scanned, and then load the scanned PDF files into their account per the normal uploading procedures. Please consult with your Print2OrderPress specialist to get a quote for interior and/or cover scanning.
WHAT KIND OF FILES DO I NEED TO SUBMIT?
We recommend using a Microsoft XPS or PDF/X-1a file for uploading to our servers. For a full discussion regarding how to make a PDF or XPS file, click here.
HOW CAN I GET HELP WITH FORMATTING MY FILE(S) FOR PRINTING?
Yes! We provide both cover design and interior layout services. Please consult with your Print2OrderPress specialist to find the right option for you.
